Here is the April Snack Calendar.
Here is the May Snack Calendar. We will celebrate summer birthdays in May as well.
In reading, we are finishing up our Text Set on plant books. We have read many different nonfiction texts that use different ways to teach us about plants. We have discussed why plants are important to our lives. We have also been reading some Folktales in Shared Reading and Inferring the author's message or lesson. We have really discussed how a lesson has to be applied to many aspects of our life not just one thing. When we return from Spring Break we will begin reading books about using our imaginations.
In phonics, we have been working with changing the ending of words to make new words or changing the beginning of words to make a new word. We have really been working with our spelling and using one word to help us spell another.
In writing, we had our letter assessment for this unit and then had our writing celebration where everyone got to see their green screen video with their best recorded letter. When we return next Tuesday, we will begin our last writing unit which is writing a nonfiction text.
In math, we are working on dividing shapes into 1/2 and 1/4 and looking at how these pieces need to be equal when using a fraction. This is just an introduction for students to fractions and seeing that 1/2 is bigger than 1/4. When we return from break we will do a couple days on telling time and then take our assessment over this geometry unit and go back to double digit addition and subtraction.
Science: In science we are finishing up our living and nonliving science unit and will get our duck eggs in our incubator on Tuesday when we get back!!
Social Studies: We will discuss bartering, trading, jobs, money, and the economy.
